 Rosalba fell in love with oriental dance in 2003 and immediately began training with internationally renowned instructors such as Angelika Nemeth, Tamra-Henna, and Meera. She holds a dance degree from UCLA's World Arts and Cultures Department and a secondary dance teaching credential. She entered the world of Middle Eastern dance with a background in ballet, jazz and Brazilian dance. Since becoming a full time professional belly dancer she has also taken the initiative to learn other styles such as classical Persian dance, Armenian, Lebanese, Gypsy, and Indian Bollywood.
Rosalba danced professionally with Layla and the Lotus Dancers from 2006-2007 and Bohemia Dance Company in 2007. She launched her solo professional career in 2008 and joined a selective group of talented dancers to form the Zahira Dancers. In 2007 Rosalba made her first trip to Egypt in search of a better understanding of this dance form. While in Egypt, she trained with top dancers such as Randa Kamal, Raqia Hassan and Momo Kadous.
Appreciated for their elegant, authentic and joyful performances the Zahira dancers are often requested for weddings, concerts, corporate events, private parties, and stage productions. They specialize in all forms of Raqs Sharqi; shamadan, sword, isis wings, saidi, veils and zills. Other Middle Eastern styles such as Armenian, Persian and Debke can be requested. Shows can also include Bollywood, Tango, Samba, Hula dance, Flamenco, and fire dance. We can also provide musicians for any event. |
